What is a Performance Chiropractor?

At King Chiropractic in Wilmington, we’re a performance chiropractor. It’s worth asking, what does that mean?

When most people think of chiropractors, they think of back and neck adjustments. That means that for most people, they think of a chiropractor as somebody they go see after they have some kind of back or neck pain.

This is true!

But you don’t have to wait until you have a chronic condition to see gains from visiting a chiropractor.

For many of us, we’re already engaged in activities that keep us healthy – running, playing in a rec league, going to the gym, weights, etc. Whether you’re competing against yourself for a new PR or are in group competition trying to beat other people or another team, you want to perform at your best.

This is where performance chiropractic care comes into play.

As a chiropractor, I’m interested in range of motion. Range of motion is one of THE foundational aspects of all sports. Without a full range of motion, the body has to compromise itself and can’t perform at its peak.

That’s why runners with poor posture and form, lifters with poor form, etc., all get out run or out lifted by those who can get their body into the right positions in a pain-free way.

It’s a truism that if you play sports long enough, you’re going to get injured. Most of the time it’s something like a bruise, cut, or sprain. For problems that involve the joints, bones, and muscles – like sprains, I can help you recuperate and get back onto the field faster.

For example, at our practice, we use a cold laser to stimulate mitochondria in the cells of your body to produce more ATP. This turbocharges your body’s cells ability to heal themselves and generates a noticeable response when applied.

We can also teach you techniques for wrapping your feet, arms, hands, and wrists, to increase performance and reduce the chance of injury.

And yes, if needed, we can perform neck and back adjustments and treat spinal problems.

But most importantly we become part of your team keeping you at peak health so you can perform at your best.

That’s what a performance chiropractor does.
